What is the difference between butterfly and dragonfly

Sitaphal and Ramphal Fruits of India. Difference Between Flamingos Pelicans and Cranes. Difference Between Orange and Mosambi Fruits. Difference Between Chameleon and Garden Lizard. Difference Between Forest and Jungle in India. Moths are photoaxis. Thus, it shows attraction towards light. Any organism phototropic, always show attraction towards light. They feed on plants only specific types of plants, some moths feed on animals, liquids such as fruit, fermenting and nectar and plants fibers.

Dragonfly is also a beautiful creature with extreme engineering from nature. They have two large compound eyes that nearly cover their head. They have long, almost transparent wings, and yellowish near the ends. They have long structured body with small antennae. They can live two years underwater. They lay their eggs on the floating plants in ponds or lakes. There are nearly five thousand species of dragonflies found on earth. They evolved million years ago and are one of the winged species that evolved in that era.

Its four wings come out, and they dry, harden in next several hours or a day and they are soon able to fly. My guess no concrete evidence for this is that maybe they are males patrolling their territories for any passing females? So anything that gets in their way of possible success another male of the same species, other butterflies, maybe even other insects will be subsequently chased away?

It seemed deliberate and purposeful. The behaviour seemed unusual, like a chipmunk chasing a cat. Similar to being flogged by a chicken. Maybe it was my orange shirt? Who knows, right? Makes me recall seeing crows attack a redtail hawk. Same with other little birds defending their nesting area including dogs, cats and people. Just never expected to see that behavior with butterflies. More brass than brains. The dragonfly can live as long as four months in the adult stage.

Looking at the life cycle of the butterfly life cycle Figure 2 , one sees a more involved and evolved process. Like the dragonfly, the butterfly begins life as an egg but not laid on a plant found in water but rather on a leaf.

When the egg hatches, caterpillar. Butterfly Life Cycle. Larvae is born. The caterpillar immediately begins eating the leaves and the flowers around it. Just like the dragonfly, the caterpillar will also go through many molts during this stage of its cycle. By the time the caterpillar is ready to pupate, it will have increased in size up to a thousand times.

When the caterpillar is ready, it will form the chrysalis or pupa where it will rest and transform into the final stage of adulthood — a butterfly. The average lifespan of an adult butterfly can range from 20 to 40 days; others may live up to six months. Butterflies and dragonflies differ not only in life cycle but they also differ in choice of habitat, diet and morphology.

Butterflies can be found in various environments: from rainforests to deciduous forests and from wetlands to farmlands. They also are known to migrate in order to avoid adverse weather or environments enchantedlearning.

Some butterflies like the Monarch migrate thousands of miles while others like the Painted Lady migrate very short distances.
