Our results were not so different from what specialist testers claim. But 30 - 48 Mbps was the typical speed. In more suburban areas, we were getting speeds of around 13 Mbps over 4G. Where 4G was available in more rural areas speeds went as low as Mbps.
We can expect the same results for Talkmobile. We set up a simple test. We popped in a Talkmobile SIM into a phone, activated the personal hotspot and connected to it on a laptop. The fact that they make it easy to use and offer it on all plans makes them a decent choice for tethering. Missing a bill can harm your credit score. This means that when joining a pay monthly plan or SIM only contract, mobile networks may choose to reject you based on credit history.
After a period of reliably paying for your SIM only contract you may be allowed to upgrade to a phone contract alongside it. Talkmobile isn't only for people with bad credit and those with good credit can be happy with their good prices.

The government regulator Ofcom have forced every mobile network to offer you the ability to put a cap on how much you want to spend beyond the cost of your monthly plan.
While they must let you cap your spending, networks are the ones who set the cap amounts available. However, Talkmobile set very reasonable caps. For example, trying to send a chargeable MMS will result in a network fail message.
We then sent 10 MMS messages at 30p to hit our new cap. We immediately got a text message confirming that we had hit our limit:. Useful link: Cost of not-included extras on Talkmobile. Roaming is turned off by default on Talkmobile. This is an irritating process when other networks make it easy. With many other networks scrapping their EU roaming plans, Talkmobile is keeping theirs in place. See our best roaming network guide here.
