The mysterious death. Until you see episode six, you don't find out which of the flatmates has died, leaving the others to divide up their possessions. And looking at the cast list won't help you.

All six of the young characters have a middle-aged, present-day alter ego and all of them are played by properly famous, esteemed thespians. So you can play guess-the-corpse all you like but you won't be able to predict the final outcome by seeing which present-day character is played by the least-famous actor.

The acting. It saves so many lines that would otherwise have you chewing your fist. You have to work pretty hard to mess up a scene which includes Lindsay Duncan and Juliet Stephenson yelling at each other.

And how David Gyasi, as the young Victor, managed to utter the pre-coital line, "My cup runneth over," without cracking up, I don't know, but it took real talent. The sexual tension. It's the potential for shagging that keeps the plot rattling along. You don't really see a lot of actual sex; it's more often suggested or remembered after the fact, which is somehow sexier. It had lost its historical identity for a certain type of drama.

Re: white heat - bbc drama Post by elena » 21 Apr , hhh - I still have the final episode to watch on iplayer - will probably watch it tomorrow so can update you then unless someone with more timely viewing habits comes along sooner.

MrE watched it when it went out and it was on in the background while I was faffing with somthing else, so I do know it's not Jack who died - he turns up played by Michael Kitchen. Anyway I'll try to have more useful information tomorrow. Re: white heat - bbc drama Post by absley » 21 Apr , ooh, interesting elena - i remember orla's brother dying in an earlier episode but it didn't go into much detail!

Re: white heat - bbc drama Post by Lily » 21 Apr , I am waiting to watch final episode so will fill you in when I have done!

Really enjoyed this. Then you have to be it like mad. Re: white heat - bbc drama Post by smalex » 21 Apr , I watched it Its Orla who has died. She turned away her brother, and he was killed by the IRA, so her parents shunned her, and wrote her a letter telling her never to contact them, so she thats how she came to be living alone etc. Charlie conceives after her One Night Stand with Jack when he is being weaned off drugs.

She tells Lily. Lily tells her to pretend she had a fling with a work colleague, because she knows Victor will break it off if he finds out it was Jack.
