While I also agree with much of what Southsound says, I have a little different take on the situation. Personally, I like the "feel" of the keys on the Hub and Scout. I also like the red lights as red will not dilate my eyes in a dark room.
In contrast, I like the look of the Telo Both seem to function very well, although I have had only limited experience with the Telo Handset. Looks and feels aside, for me it comes down to the intended use. For smaller applications e. By way of example, I have a rather large home.
We currently have 12 cordless stations working on my primary number honestly, we did not want anyone to be more that 50 feet from a phone while in the house. These are connected up through four separate corless base stations; one with 6 units at the Hub; one with 4 units at a separate Scout; and two separate cordless stations to separate Scouts in the upstairs bedrooms.
The system has been nearly flawless Several friends and relatives will be getting new Ooma systems this year. I'm sure every one of them will be thanking me every month in the coming year, and maybe well beyond. Re: Hub or Telo Post by 07pilot4me » Fri Dec 04, pm man, you guys have some BIG houses perhaps my main problem has been WANTING all the Premier features since i do have a free trial , i guess i can live without the cool features of having second line and able to answer a call on another handset while phone is being used.
MY dream scenario: Telo hooked up to Panasonic Dect 6. Are these possible without the Telo Handset??? Quick links. Problems using My Ooma? Ideas on how we can make it better? Yes, I've looked at the "Compare" page on the main site, but it just lists a few more features for the Telo and doesn't give any info on why those features might be important. Here are those features that come with the Telo model and my questions on each, if anyone knows the answers. Online phonebook: Is this an extremely useful feature?
Ooma HD Voice ready: I have no idea what this is or why I would need it, unless the current voice quality is subpar which isn't what most people have said. USB port for future expansion: Expansion to what? Thanks in advance! Post by bw1 » Wed Oct 21, am The online phone book is not available yet.
I have my fax on a splitter with the telephone line, I have only the one line, and I just dial the number on the fax machine and it faxes. No problem at all and no extra button pushes.
Really I am not the luckiest person in the world so I have to wonder what you are doing wrong to not be able to fax and have issues with your vm. My voicemail is always clear. I stick by decision to switch to Ooma and have absolutely no complaints. Hello, I also made the switch to Ooma from our dreaded Bell two years ago and have had great service.
I also have the Bluetooth adapter for my cell and that too is just amazing. My upload speed is I have the Telo placed between the router and the modem in my office. I ported from Vonage without issue in a few weeks time.
I helped my mother port over successfully in just a few days. Has anyone had any success with Ooma waiving their porting fees? Also, what is the appx time it took to port your number?
Per one of the previous posts I saw, if I remember right, they started charging me 10 or 12 bucks a month for premier about the 4th month, but I called them and they immediately cancelled it. Also, I believe they said it could take up to 30 days [?
I pay 3. Hi, does anyone have any experience with running a credit card machine on the Ooma telo? I have fast internet speeds through Verizon. I have Fios. Is OOMA still the best? I have had the Ooma Hub since It has been fantastic to get absolutely no phone bill for all these years!
Got in when Ooma was even paying the taxes if you bought their hardware! No trouble porting my old number or using my old phone set main phone plus seven 7! My download speed is 3. My internet usage is not affected. I should mention that we are hard-wired, but you could also have a wi-fi setup. I have att for Internet. Will I have any problems? I think your site would be more helpful if you put the comments in reverse alphabetical order.
As it is not, you have to read all the comments about how it used to work or not before you get to the most recent posts.
I have used Ooma and prepaid wireless now and have seen tremendous savings too. In fact, it was actually cheaper to pay a contract disconnection fee than continue with my then wireless provider.
I use tracfone as it seems to give the best bang for the buck but I am sure other preaids can give a great deal too. I refuse to again be stuck in any type of contract for services where the provider is the only one who gains. Not too bad. For this, you cannot blame Ooma. I have had to contact them and they were great. Excellent customer service. My reburb Ooma that I had for a few years blew in an electrical storm and I purchased another at a local store. That is what I call excellent customer service.
I have Ooma service for about 5 years. The fees for the first 4 years had only gone up in total about 5 cents. The actual dollars and cents is small but the rate of increase in the last 4 months is high. I will say the quality of the calls are very good. But I am concerned about the rate of increase in fees. Government fees that Ooma claims these fees are, are usually not raised every few months.
Basic Ooma is still free. It is the same with me. For quite some time I have been looking at Vonage and OOma as alternatives. At my parents house we have Verizon signed up by my dad and two different telephone numbers coming into the house.
If I were to sign up for Ooma at this telephone number will the other telephone number be usable for my parents to use or how will it affect the second telephone number? How much bandwith does this use? I want to drop my landline down to the minimum.
We live remotely so I need to have if I need to call my ISP in case of an outage, and for purposes. I want to make sure my internet speed will support is as I also work from home, so I utilize quite a bit myself. Thanks for updated Feb 21, review. We have two Ooma Telos connected to our dual line cordless phone system.
Service is great. Only problem — niether Ooma or third party makes software to also enable use of Ooma from our computers, Service from Skype is poorer than sucking and Ooma could double its customers if it had softphone capability. Why do they not do that??? Or team with third party to do that.
I used Vonage for over 10 years and was very happy with it. For new accounts, if you commit to Premium, you may be able to get the Telo device free. The only problem I have is that when I am talking on the line, another caller will not hear a busy signal, just ringing. You can set voicemail to pick up after a specified number of rings and have messages can be sent by email. The sound quality is excellent. Love the service, quality and all about it.
Clicking on myooma. Best choice I ever made. Just wish I could have healthcare and the cable company like this :. I have had Ooma for a little over a month, as far as set up and all its very good. The only thing that I am not happy with, is that after a caller hangs up there is a dial tone that continues to play, and then it finally disconnects, very annoying. In chatting online with Ooma customer service they said there is nothing one can do as it is a default of the system.
We do not use an Ooma phone because we like having a talking caller ID phone. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you! Cut the cord with a Baby Bell in to go to Vonage and then took a gamble with Ooma which was not well known at the time. Have saved a lot of money and works as well or better than what I had with the Baby Bell and Vonage.
I generally agree with your assessment. However, readers who obtain their internet service from a source other than cable or the phone company may want to consider one important caveat. Specifically, prior to switching to cable internet I got my internet signal via a 4G wireless hotspot Sprint based. This 4G connection provided fairly consistent download speeds in the Mbps range.
And during this time placing an Ooma call invariably took between 30 and 45 seconds from the point at which I completed dialing to obtain a dialtone. As I said, all of these connection and call quality issues disappeared once I switched my internet service from a 4G wireless connection to cable internet. Very pleased with Ooma, Ooma premium and the Ooma app on my cellphone.
Ooma premium gives me a home security system at a cost and the app combined with the premium service and an internet connection allows me to dial cell phones and land lines from my cell phone at no extra cost. When phoning from my Ooma app on my cell phone the person receiving the call thinks the call is originating from my home phone.
This is extremely convenient and inexpensive when making calls when on the road or in other countries. Fantastic product. Saves lots of money. Wife and I invested in ooma around and the original unit is still alive and kicking.
Initial investment was around I have a modem that does not have a phone jack. What modem would you recommend I purchase that is most affordable and does the best job with an Ooma?
Routers have phone jacks, typically. Not modems. Is this still true? Apparently Telo units in u. I think it only works with maybe a u. Related Posts. Van G.
